Select "Allow all the time" to track in the background or "Allow only while using" to track your location only when the app is in the foreground.

The ESR app is about tracking your rides and showing you the maps you need. It can't work without sharing location.

If you choose “Only while using the app”, everything will work the as long as leave the app in the foreground. If you switch to another app or move the app to the background, the ESR app no longer has access to your location, which will mean we cannot track your ride.

As such, if you do want to track your rides, user Ride Groups or CRASHLIGHT®, or just rack up points on the leaderboard, you’re going to want to use the "Allow all the time" setting.

Concerned about sharing your location and privacy? So are we. I want to assure you that ESR *ONLY* uses your location for tracking your ride, sending notifications in the event of a crash using CRASHLIGHT and sharing your location with your Ride Group, which you can turn on and off independently.
